What’s not allowed on Whop
The following are prohibited on Whop — either because every payment processor we work with blocks them, they violate the law, or they conflict with our platform’s values. None of these can be approved under any circumstances.- Illegal & regulated products — Illegal drugs or drug paraphernalia, weapons, firearms, ammunition, explosives, nicotine, marijuana, alcohol, or tobacco products.
- Financial & fraud schemes — Fraudulent or misleading “get rich quick” schemes, credit repair or payday lending without proper licensing, payment fraud, chargeback abuse, money laundering, or any other financial misconduct.
- Harmful & explicit content — Adult pornography or explicit adult services, hate content, violent extremism, terrorist material, or content that exploits, sexualizes, or endangers minors. Child safety violations will be reported to law enforcement.
- Deceptive practices — Scams, phishing, pyramid schemes, fake reviews, misleading product descriptions, false earnings claims, impersonation, or any other deceptive business practice.
- Harassment & abuse — Unsolicited, abusive, or offensive behavior toward any user, including doxxing, coordinated harassment, and content that demeans people based on race, religion, gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics.
- IP & privacy violations — Counterfeit or IP-infringing goods, unauthorized use of trademarks or copyrighted material, and sharing or collecting personal information without consent.
- Platform abuse — Fake accounts, artificially inflated metrics, ban evasion, spam, unsolicited solicitation, or any coordinated inauthentic behavior.
- Self-harm content — Promoting, glorifying, or providing instructions for suicide, self-injury, or eating disorders.
- Restricted business types — IPTV streaming, government or identity services, timeshare services, any offer promising “lifetime” access, businesses serving customers in OFAC-sanctioned countries, or any activity violating U.S. AML/CFT regulations.
Restricted categories — subject to review
Some categories are prohibited by certain processors but permitted by others. These may be supported on Whop if routed through the right payment partner and approved through our review process. If your business falls into one of these areas, you will need to apply and demonstrate compliance before being approved:- NFTs and crypto-related services (requires licensing and AML/CFT compliance)
- Crowdfunding and fundraising (must meet legal and platform requirements)
- Event ticketing and streaming services (requires transparent refund policies)
- Non-explicit adult entertainment (subject to partner approval)
- Travel services (must provide clear cancellation and refund terms)
- Dating services (non-explicit, safety-controlled platforms only)
- Nutraceuticals, supplements, and aesthetic clinics (requires appropriate documentation)
- Licensed financial services, lending, and factoring
- Political campaigns (case-by-case approval)
Earnings claims
If your content makes any reference — direct or implied — to potential income, you must ensure those claims are accurate, substantiated, and not misleading. Testimonials must reflect realistic outcomes, and any atypical results must be clearly disclosed. All earnings claims must comply with FTC guidelines.Broader compliance obligations
All merchants on Whop must also comply with broader legal and regulatory requirements, including data protection laws (GDPR and CCPA), PCI compliance standards, and suspicious activity reporting obligations under the FTC and applicable money services regulations. How we monitor the platform
Whop uses a combination of automated content moderation tools and a dedicated trust and safety team to monitor all activity on the platform — including store pages, chats, DMs, forum posts, media, and livestreams. The community also plays an active role in flagging violations. All merchants are reviewed at key milestones: account creation, marketplace listing, first payment, first payout, and at recurring revenue thresholds. If something looks off, we investigate — and if a merchant cannot prove what they are selling, payouts are frozen until they do.What happens if you violate our policies
Correctable violations
If you have made a mistake that can be fixed, we will reach out. The account owner will receive a notification via email and Whop DM explaining the violation and how to correct it. Common examples include:- Using a company’s logo or intellectual property without authorization
- Marketing materials that make unrealistic income promises
- Selling a product that partially falls into a restricted category (e.g., running a fitness offer but selling peptides — the fitness offer is fine, the peptides are not)
Non-correctable violations
If you are found to be lying about what you are selling, selling prohibited products or services, or committing serious violations, the consequences are immediate and final:- Your business will be permanently terminated
- All associated accounts will be suspended
- You will be added to a platform blacklist
- We reserve the right to withhold, reverse, and/or refund all funds
